Internet Marketing Basics

Internet marketing is the business of getting traffic to your website and making money (or other business goals) off that traffic. Of many available tactics for driving traffic, we’ll give you an introduction to a few below.

  • Search Engine Marketing. You know the drill — you enter your search key words at Google.com and up pops a list of “matching” sites. Next time you do this, notice the different columns of listings that come up on the page: There are Sponsored Link sections surrounding the main body of results (variously called the free results, organic results, search engine results pages, etc.). Separate marketing tactics apply to the Sponsored Link and Free sections, see below.
  • Search Engine Optimization. Efforts to get your site to come up as high as possible in the free listings are termed Search Engine Optimization or SEO. In various cases FrozenBlues has been able to take customers from a nonexistent position on the list to the top 10 for their key search phrase. The broader your competition (e.g. national or international versus local markets) the harder this can be, and an entire industry revolves around it, replete with scams and bad deals, along with reputable players that FrozenBlues uses as strategic partners.
  • Sponsored Link Campaigns. The listings in the Sponsored Link sections are actually mini-ads that FrozenBlues has helped customers write and get placed. You pay a fee when someone clicks on your ad and is taken to your website, called a Pay Per Click (or PPC) fee. That fee comes out of a bidding process, and your ad’s position in the section depends on your bid for a given key word or phrase. Bids may range from pennies to dollars depending on how heavily competed the key word / phrase is. A bit complicated, but not to worry! FrozenBlues can help you set up an manage your entire Sponsored Link Campaign.
